Statement from Mayor William Choy on the passing of former Councillor Ingrid Schulz

The Town of Stony Plain is mourning the passing of former Councillor Ingrid Regina Schulz, who passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2025, at the age of 80.

Ingrid was sworn into office as a Town Councillor on October 22, 1998, and served until October 23, 2004. Beyond her time on Council, she was deeply committed to the well-being of the community through her active involvement in the Rotary Club and many other initiatives. Ingrid’s entrepreneurial spirit, kindness, and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Flags at Town facilities will be lowered to half‑mast from today until Friday afternoon in recognition of her years of service and her many contributions to the Stony Plain community.

“On behalf of Council and the residents of Stony Plain, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ingrid Schulz,” says Mayor William Choy. “Ingrid’s vibrant energy, compassionate heart, and unwavering dedication to public service made a profound difference in the lives of those around her. Her memory will be cherished, and her contributions will be long remembered. The Town extends its deepest condolences to Ingrid’s husband of 63-years and to the rest of her family and friends.”
