Statement from the Town on Passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

It is with profound sadness the Town of Stony Plain has received notice of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

Mayor William Choy says, “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II embodied grace and commitment to public service; she was a symbol of hope for many generations. On behalf of Council and Administration, I extend our sincerest condolences to the Royal Family.”

Community members who wish to share their condolences can send messages of sympathy to the Royal Family through the online book of condolences from the Government of Alberta.

The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

Town flags are being lowered to half-mast as a sign of respect for and mourning of the passing of The Queen.
