Stony Plain Calls for Nominations to Honour Local Excellence
STONY PLAIN, AB: Nominations are now open for Stony Plain’s Award of Creative Excellence and Award of Business Excellence. These two honours celebrate the individuals and businesses whose work makes a lasting impact through creativity, leadership, innovation, outstanding service, and community spirit.
Anyone can submit a nomination, and businesses or individuals are welcome to nominate themselves.
“When someone makes a real impact, it deserves to be recognized,” says Mayor William Choy. “These awards shine a light on the people and businesses who help shape Stony Plain. If someone comes to mind, take the time to nominate them. It means more than you might think.”
The Award of Creative Excellence celebrates the artists, cultural groups, and creators who shape our identity, inspire connection, and draw visitors to experience Stony Plain’s unique spirit. From musicians and makers to community organizers, this award honours those using creativity to make an impact on our community.
“Creative work helps us understand who we are and what we value as a community,” says Chantelle Laberge, Culture and Tourism Development Officer. “It’s about more than performance or product—it’s the spirit behind it that brings people together. The award recognizes those who make Stony Plain feel like home and a nomination is a simple but powerful way to celebrate the people who bring Stony Plain to life.”
The Award of Business Excellence celebrates local businesses that go above and beyond in leadership, innovation, outstanding service, and community spirit. From launching new ideas and delivering exceptional customer experiences to creating inclusive workplaces and giving back to the community, these businesses help set Stony Plain apart.
“Our businesses are more than service providers—they’re leaders, innovators, and ambassadors for Stony Plain,” says Michelle Levasseur, Economic Development Manager. “Their work brings attention to our community, strengthens the local economy, and makes Stony Plain a better place to live. A nomination is a meaningful way to recognize their impact and celebrate what they contribute.”
The nomination period runs from July 18 to September 18, with recipients announced at the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Awards of Business Distinction Gala on November 6. To learn more or submit a nomination, visit the Awards webpage.
