Stony Plain Celebrates Pride Month

Pride in the Park is returning to Stony Plain! Community members are invited to join the local festivities and celebrate Pride Month in a safe and welcoming space.

Pride in the Park is a community celebration hosted in Stony Plain to celebrate Pride Month each June. The event aims to increase inclusivity and create safe, welcoming spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members. This year’s event will be held at Shikaoi Park on June 26 from 12PM-4PM. The day will include free activities, refreshments, and entertainment.

“Ensuring all residents feel welcome and supported is integral to fostering a stronger, more connected community. The Pride in the Park event is a wonderful tradition in Stony Plain that is not only great fun, but is also an important aspect of community building,” says Mayor William Choy.

“Pride in the Park plays a central role in supporting Stony Plain’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community and ensuring all residents feel welcome in their neighbourhoods. Everyone is invited to join the celebration!” says Deanna Butz. “Part of the annual event includes the painting of the rainbow crosswalk and the raising of the Pride flag at Town Office. These symbolic gestures remind community members they are seen, and they are always welcome in Stony Plain.”

Pride in the Park is a free event open to all community members. To learn more about this year’s Pride celebration, visit the Stony Plain website and follow the official event Facebook page.
