Stony Plain Council Highlight Intentional Growth and Community Connection with Approval of New Strategic Plan

STONY PLAIN, AB: Council has approved the 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, setting the direction for the community over the next four years. The Plan reflects the priorities and perspectives shared by residents during the 2025 municipal election, and establishes a clear roadmap to guide Council’s decisions, investments, and actions.

“The Strategic Plan is our commitment to the community, and a guide for how we will move forward together,” says Mayor William Choy. “It reflects what we heard from residents and outlines how we will continue to build a safe, connected, and thriving Stony Plain.”

As a new Council term begins, the Strategic Plan reflects their commitment to community-informed decision-making. It builds on existing priorities while continuing to respond to the evolving needs of the community.

The Plan establishes four key commitments that will guide decision-making over the next four years:

  • Civic Responsibility: Supporting a safe, sustainable, and financially responsible community while delivering high-quality municipal services
  • Collaborative Leadership: Working with residents, businesses, community organizations, and regional partners to make informed decisions and address shared priorities
  • Community Building: Investing in infrastructure, amenities, and public spaces to strengthen connections and support a vibrant, inclusive community
  • Economic Opportunity: Supporting local businesses, attracting new investment, and creating the conditions for economic prosperity

The Strategic Plan will serve as a foundation for future initiatives, including updates to the Municipal Development Plan, and will be integrated into Council and Administration decision-making processes.
Residents, businesses, and community partners are encouraged to explore the Strategic Plan and learn more about how it will guide Stony Plain’s future.
