Stony Plain Launches Business Retention and Expansion Program Built with Business
STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain has launched its Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Program. The BR+E Program is built with business and is designed to work collaboratively with local business owners to better understand their needs and support their ability to stay, adapt, grow and thrive.
The first phase of the program begins with a confidential business survey, now open to local business owners. The survey invites businesses to share insights into their operations, future plans, and experiences operating in Stony Plain. What businesses share will help identify shared priorities and guide how support is aligned over time.
Businesses can complete the survey online or participate in an in-person or phone conversation with a member of the Economic Development team. All input will be kept confidential and summarized to protect individual business information.
“Supporting the businesses that call Stony Plain home is essential to building a strong local economy,” says Mayor William Choy. “This program creates a consistent way for business owners to share their perspectives and help shape future priorities.”
The BR+E Program follows an ongoing cycle of engagement, insight, and action.
Survey responses will be reviewed to identify common themes and opportunities. If a business identifies an urgent or time-sensitive matter, such as expansion plans, relocation, or an operational challenge, the Town will follow up directly to better understand the situation and connect the business with appropriate support where possible.
Later this year, participating businesses and support partners will be invited to review the findings and take part in a collaborative workshop to identify practical next steps.
Insights gathered through the survey and workshop will be summarized in the BR+E Survey Report and Action Plan, which will help guide coordinated action and future decision-making related to business support in Stony Plain.
“The BR+E Program is built with business,” says Kaleb Brink, Economic Development Specialist. “Businesses that take part play a key role in identifying priorities that guide how we work together to support long‑term success in Stony Plain.”
Updates on actions and opportunities to participate will be shared throughout the program so businesses can see how their input is informing action.
Local business owners are encouraged to help shape what comes next for business support in Stony Plain. Visit Business Retention and Expansion Program to learn more and complete the survey.
