“We’re seeing strong momentum to start the year,” says Miles Dibble, Planning and Development Manager. “Residential permit values are up 16.7 percent and permits for alterations and additions have jumped 40 percent year-over-year. That’s a $2.4 million increase overall, plus another $1 million in industrial investment. Residential activity remains concentrated in Westerra and South Creek, which continue to lead growth in Q1.”
Michelle Levasseur, Manager of Economic Development notes that “With low vacancy rates across the board, it’s clear there’s strong demand to be part of the Stony Plain community. We’re focused on creating more opportunities for businesses to set up here.”
“Stony Plain’s momentum is undeniable,” says Mayor William Choy. “We’re working toward a population of 30,000, and growth is already taking shape. While Westerra and South Creek continue to boom, projects like the Community Recreation Facility and the Old Town South Redevelopment are fueling activity in areas like The Brickyard also. The investments underway today is setting the stage for a vibrant and thriving future.”
