Suit Up to Fight Fire! Stony Plain Fire Department is Now Recruiting
The Stony Plain Fire Department (SPFD) is recruiting! If you are committed to your community and passionate about helping others in need, the SPFD is ready to get you suited up as a Casual Firefighter.
No previous training or experience is required, and members are compensated for training and emergency responses. Firefighters are trained in accordance with National Fire Protection Association standards including fire suppression, self-rescue techniques, motor vehicle rescue, ice rescue awareness, and enhanced medical training through Alberta Health Services.
Being part of the SPFD team means not only working to keep your neighbourhood safe, but further engaging the community. From reading in local classrooms on World Literacy Day to showing young visitors the ropes during fire station tours, Stony Plain firefighters make their mark as active community members who live, work, and play in Stony Plain. The SPFD takes pride in its ongoing commitment to an increasingly diverse community and is eager to recruit compassionate new team members who are ready to serve.
“Community, Commitment, Compassion is our motto and the values we live by,” says Fire Chief Trevor Mistal.
Prospective applicants must be 18 years of age and older, a resident of Stony Plain, and have a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license. Applications will be accepted until October 7 and successful candidates will be contacted following the review period. Orientation takes place at the beginning of December and the recruit training program runs on select Monday evenings and weekends from January through to September.
Ready to join the team and give back to your community? You can find more information and submit an online application on the Stony Plain website.
