Summer Sessions Return to Live In-Person Concerts

JUNE 14, 2021: Summer Sessions are going live and in-person! With the easing of public health guidelines and restrictions, the concerts for this year’s event will be hosted at Heritage Park.

Physical distancing guidelines will be in place and all guests, regardless of age, will need a ticket. Masks will be mandatory while traveling on the grounds but can be removed once guests are seated. Seating will not be provided, and all attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their own chairs. Concerts will be rain or shine and gates open each night at 5:30PM.

The live in-person concerts are free but will be limited to 150 attendees. Registration for each show will open on the Monday of the same week at 12PM. Community members can register for the in-person concerts by visiting stonyplain.com/summersessions. In addition to the in-person event, each concert will continue to be livestreamed on the Town Facebook page and YouTube channel.

MAY 13, 2021: Get ready for a summer of tunes! Stony Plain’s annual Summer Sessions are returning for 2021. The event is slated for a virtual delivery with consideration to COVID-19 health guidelines and restrictions.

“Summer Sessions have become a traditional kick off to summer here in Stony Plain. While we do miss setting up in Shikaoi Park, the virtual format offers a safe opportunity for residents to enjoy a great lineup of local and visiting musicians,” says Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge.

Summer Sessions will go live on Wednesdays beginning June 16 and will run until the first week of August. Special guests will take the virtual stage at 6:30PM with headliners at 7PM. This year’s schedule and lineup includes:

• June 16: Martin Kerr with special guest Bob Donaldson
• June 23: Blake Reid with special guest Justin Sutton
• June 30: Scenic Route to Alaska with special guest Of Candor
• July 7: FKB with special guest Avery Simpson
• July 14: The Prairie States with special guest The Rural Routes
• July 28: Jamie Warren with special guest Tracy Lynn
• August 4: Bobby Wills with special guest Brandon Lorenzo

“We know it is not the same experience as the past, but through the virtual format we can carry on our musical legacy and stay connected as a community,” says Mayor William Choy. “We encourage everyone to tune in each week. Set up lawn chairs or lay down a blanket in the backyard and watch through a laptop or phone. There are a number of ways residents can enjoy the sessions!”
