Final Phase of the Meridian Housing Foundation Mural Unveiled

The final mural of the Meridian Housing Foundation series has been unveiled. 'Shaping the Future' by artist James McKay represents the future of healthcare, depicting innovations currently in development and imagining those yet to come. The newest artwork marks Stony Plain’s 40th mural.

The mural is the fourth and final addition to the four double-sided murals created in partnership between the Town and Meridian Housing Foundation. The four-phase project was originally planned for annual releases beginning in 2017; however, the fourth piece was delayed due to COVID-19. Artist James McKay and residents had a painting session earlier this year in August to complete the work.

“The Town’s mural program is part of our unique cultural identity. It has been wonderful to see the final piece of the Meridian Housing Foundation mural series come together,” says Chantelle Laberge, Culture and Tourism Development Officer. “The participation of the residents and the collaboration that went into the piece makes the project truly special to our community.”

The mural can be viewed at the Meridian Housing Foundation at 5303 47 Street. For more information on murals in Stony Plain, visit the Town website.
