Get Connected with the Return of Neighbourhood Connect

Get connected to your community! Stony Plain residents are invited to Shikaoi Park on May 10 from 6:30PM to 7:30PM for an evening of neighbourly connection and family-friendly fun.

The event marks the return of Neighbourhood Connect, a community program that encourages residents to find creative ways to connect with their neighbours. Residents can register as Neighbourhood Connectors to receive tips and toolkits for hosting community events and sparking new friendly connections in their neighbourhood. The project aims to create a network of Neighbourhood Connectors who work to enhance community resiliency and create more welcoming neighbourhoods for all Stony Plain residents.

“Neighbourhood Connect brings residents together and creates an increased sense of belonging and inclusion,” says Community Development Officer Deanna Butz. “The framework works to create neighbours who look out for one another and connect to share their talents, skills, and resources to create healthy, happy, and vibrant neighbourhoods one block at a time.”

“A major focus for Stony Plain this year is building resilience and connecting our community. Through community events and programs like Neighbourhood Connect, we can create more opportunities for residents to play a role in supporting a shared vision of a strong, healthy, and connected Stony Plain,” says Mayor William Choy.

The evening of festivities will include refreshments, family-friendly activities, and a reading from Stony Plain Poet Laureate Lisa Mulrooney. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about Neighbourhood Connect and sign up as a Neighbourhood Connector. Participation is free and all community members are invited to come out, meet some new neighbours, and celebrate the Stony Plain community.
