Get into the Halloween Spirit with Spooktacular Events in Stony Plain

The Halloween season is here, and Stony Plain is ready to get spooky! This year’s celebration features the return of the Halloween Haunted House Hunt and the Parkland Search & Rescue Haunted House, and a new pumpkin carving contest with trick-or-treating at Shikaoi Park.

Beginning October 22, clues leading to five miniature haunted houses hidden in public spaces will be posted to the Stony Plain website each morning at 9AM. House hunters who find a hidden house can bring it in to Town Office during regular business hours to receive a prize (restriction of one prize per person).

The Parkland Search & Rescue Haunted House will run on October 29 and 30 from 10AM – 3PM at Heritage Park. Entry into the haunted house is free (no registration required) and the event is suitable for all ages. Guests are encouraged to bring a donation for the Parkland Food Bank.

“Stony Plain has a longstanding tradition of hosting Halloween festivities, and this year is no different! All the events are free and make for fantastic Halloween fun for the whole family,” says Event Coordinator Tevra Graham.

New to Stony Plain’s lineup of Halloween fun is a pumpkin carving contest open to Stony Plain residents. Community members are invited to put their carving skills to the test and submit their best jack-o-lanterns for a chance to win one of three prizes. Contestants can bring their pumpkins into Town Office from Monday to Friday from 8:30AM – 4:30PM until October 27 at 4:30PM. Contest entries will be featured in the Town’s trick-or-treating display at Shikaoi Park on Halloween night open to local ghosts and ghouls from 6 – 9PM.
