Stony Plain Public Library Presents 2021 Annual Report and Funding Overview

The Stony Plain Public Library joined Council last night to present the 2023 Board-approved budget. The presentation included the library’s 2021 Annual Report and provided an overview of the 2022 and 2023 operational years.

In 2022, the Town provided $504,500 to the library. The requested budget for 2023 is $596,320 and will be included in the 2023-2025 Corporate Plan for consideration.

Urban Agriculture Plan Guides the Future of Agricultural Development in Town

Stony Plain’s first Urban Agriculture Plan (UAP) has been presented to Council. The UAP was developed in accordance with the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board’s (EMRB) inaugural Regional Agricultural Master Plan (RAMP) approved back in 2021.

Stony Plain’s UAP guides local agricultural development and identifies how urban agriculture can be supported within the community. It includes objectives, directions, policies, and actions to encourage investment in and growth of urban agriculture in the community.

The UAP will be available on the Stony Plain website. The plan will be provided to the EMRB for review once the RAMP is approved by the province.
