2025 Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum Society Overview Presented to Council

At last night’s meeting, Stony Plain and Parkland Pioneer Museum President Clifford Goerz and Executive Director David Fielhaber presented an overview of the Museum’s 2025 operations to Council. The update highlighted the Museum’s mission to preserve and share the stories and artifacts that define the community’s heritage, featuring tens of thousands of objects and engaging programming such as demonstrations, field exhibits, and hands-on activities.

Member of the Legislative Assembly for Spruce Grove-Stony Plain Presented Update to Council

Member of the Legislative Assembly Honourable Searle Turton, Minister of Children and Family Services, presented an update to Council on behalf of the Government of Alberta. This presentation aligns with the Town’s 2025-2028 Strategic Plan, strengthening relationships with other orders of government to advocate for the needs of Stony Plain.

Yellowhead Regional Library 2024 Annual Report Presented

Yellowhead Regional Library (YRL) Board Chair Hank Smit and Director Karla Palichuk presented the 2024 Annual Report and provided an update to Council on current projects.

YRL provides materials and services to public and school libraries, and other organizations, to assist them in meeting the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs of communities.

Shikaoi Student Delegation Shares Experience with Council

The Town of Stony Plain and the Town of Shikaoi in Hokkaido, Japan, officially became sister towns in 1985, and 2025 marks the 40-year anniversary of this enduring friendship. A highlight of the partnership is the annual student exchange program, which gives local students the opportunity to travel to Japan and experience daily life and culture with host families in Shikaoi. This year, twelve students and three chaperones took part in the exchange as members of the 2025 delegation.

At last night’s Governance and Priorities Meeting, participants in the 2025 student delegation shared their experiences with Council.

Strategic and Corporate Plan Q2 Report Presented

Administration presented the Q2 2025 Strategic and Corporate Plan Report to Council for information. The update outlined progress on key initiatives and results connected to the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan and 2025-2027 Corporate Plan, which align priorities, allocate resources, and measure progress toward the community’s long-term vision.

2025 Second Quarter Report Presented for Information

Administration presented the 2025 Second Quarter Report to Council. The report combines updates across departments and projects, serving as a measurement tool for evaluating budget progress and supporting the development of the Town’s Annual Report.

Council accepted the 2025 Second Quarter Report for information.
