Stony Plain Town Hall Little Library Project Overview Presented to Council

At last night’s Council Meeting, Administration provided a project overview to Council regarding the Stony Plain Town Hall Little Library Project. The little library is a staff collaboration committing to bringing the spirit of reading to the community and will be displayed in the lobby of Town Hall. The project was headed by the Project and Event Support Team. The team utilized innovative strategies to repurpose recycled materials from the Town’s infrastructure, including an old painted piano from Rotary Park, old downtown decorative bench, old wagon from Heritage Park, old wooden community bulletin boards, and more.

Tri-Region Men’s Shed 2023 Update Presented to Council

At last night’s meeting, Doug Taylor, Organizer of the Tri-Region Men’s Shed provided an update of their 2023 activities to Council. Tri-Region Men’s Shed Collective, supports fostering a sense of community belonging through endorsing programs to reduce isolation and enhance quality of life. The global program also gives opportunities for men to learn or teach new skills, which offers alternative strategies to avoid isolation and build community strength.

Council Accepts the Municipal Historic Resources Policy C-CD-058 for information.

Council has accepted the revised Municipal Historic Resources Policy for information. The draft policy is a revision of the Municipal Historic Designation Policy 415/10/08/SP which was scheduled for review to align it with the Town’s current policy standards and to respond to a recommendation in the 2021 Arts, Culture, and Heritage Action Plan.

The Municipal Historic Designation Policy 415/10/08/SP was developed in 2008 and provides a mechanism for the Town to recognize, designate and rehabilitate historic places in the Town of Stony Plain.

Destination Marketing Fund Report Accepted for Information

At last night’s Council Meeting, Administration presented the Destination Marketing Fund Report to Council for information. The Town’s 2021 Tourism Master Plan highlights the importance of capitalizing on new opportunities to increase tourism development. This aligns with the Town's commitment to long-term strategic planning and the enhancement of tourism offerings through destination marketing, events, and program collaboration.

Council Accepts the Strategic & Corporate Plan Q1 2024 Report for Information

The Strategic & Corporate Plan Q1 2024 report has been presented to Council. Quarterly reports are comprehensive reporting tools that serve as benchmarks for the ongoing operation of the Town of Stony Plain. This quarterly report provides the progress status on actions and results of the initiatives of the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan and the 2024-2026 Corporate Plan.
