Horse and Wagon Mural Tours Return to Stony Plain

STONY PLAIN, AB: Horse and Wagon Mural Tours are returning to Stony Plain this summer. Join the local tour to learn about Stony Plain’s history and discover the stories behind the community’s murals.

Horse and Wagon Mural Tours are a collaborative initiative between the Town of Stony Plain and Red Brick Common, aiming to celebrate and promote the town's rich history and vibrant public art. Guests can climb aboard a horse-drawn wagon and listen to a local guide share insights on cultural heritage and the history of Stony Plain’s murals as they travel throughout downtown.

“Stony Plain has a rich cultural history. The Horse and Wagon Mural Tours are an excellent example of how the Town of Stony Plain and local organizations are working to promote tourism while honouring Stony Plain’s roots,” says Mayor William Choy.

“Whether you're an art enthusiast, a history buff, or just looking for a nice day out, the Horse and Wagon Mural Tour is an experience you won't want to miss,” says Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge. “Stony Plain is known for our 'Outdoor Art Gallery' featuring over 40 murals that capture the spirit of our community. What better way to get an up-close look at our murals than in a horse-drawn wagon?”

The summer tour series will run in July and August on the following dates:

  • July 13, at 11:30 AM and 1 PM
  • July 27, at 11:30 AM and 1 PM
  • August 10, at 11:30 AM and 1 PM
  • August 24, at 11:30 AM and 1 PM
