Meet Neighbours and Plant Trees at Gather and Grow Day

STONY PLAIN, AB: Get to know your neighbours and help plant trees for a greener Stony Plain at Gather and Grow Day in St. Andrews Park on September 19. 

Community members are invited to plant trees and play yard games from 11 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Andrews Park, located in St. Andrews Crescent. Attendees can enjoy a free BBQ and are encouraged to contribute to Rocky the Snake by adding painted rocks. 

“Gather and Grow Day is a great annual event for the Town,” says Mayor William Choy. “It’s an opportunity to meet neighbours and contribute to a greener Stony Plain by planting trees around Town. I encourage everyone to come out and participate in this year’s event.”

Gather and Grow Day is also an opportunity for residents to learn more about the Town’s Neighbourhood Connect project. Interested community members are encouraged to become Neighbourhood Connectors and host their own neighbourhood events. Neighbourhood Connectors encourage their neighbours to get to know each other and contribute to building a stronger, safer, and more supportive community.

“Building a strong network of neighbours helps the entire community,” says Lara Stadnyk, Community Development Officer. “Connectors help their neighbourhood by sharing local updates and encouraging their community to be more socially, culturally and civically engaged.”
