Outdoor Movie Returns for a Movie Night Under the Stars

The Outdoor Movie is back! Grab your comfiest lawn chairs and get ready to enjoy a feature film under the stars.

This year’s Outdoor Movie will take place at Heritage Park on Thursday, August 18. Family-friendly activities will kick off the event at 7:30PM with the movie rolling at sundown. A concession will be on-site to provide guests with movie snacks, and attendees are also welcome to pack along their own food and beverages (no alcohol permitted). The feature film is DreamWorks The Bad Guys.

“Being able to host free events brings the community together and strengthens the Stony Plain spirit. Not only is the Outdoor Movie a great chance for residents to meet up and reconnect with their neighbours, but it is also a chance to meet new people too,” says Mayor William Choy. “I encourage movie lovers to come out and join the fun. It really is a summer staple in Stony Plain!”

It is a fantastic free event for families, friends, and those looking for a fun night out,” says Event Coordinator Tevra Graham. “This year’s event falls on the same day as the Midsummer Thursdays celebration and Cultural Campfires, so there will be plenty of excitement for guests to experience. It is going to be a great night of local fun!”

The event is free for all moviegoers. Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating and come dressed for the weather. A free Park N’ Ride service will be hosted at Heritage Park on the day of the event to help guests travel downtown to experience Midsummer Thursdays and Cultural Campfires. The shuttle will return guests to Heritage Park to catch the Outdoor Movie.
