STONY PLAIN, AB: Get ready for an unforgettable night under the stars as the highly anticipated Outdoor Movie makes its grand return! Grab your comfiest lawn chairs, gather your loved ones, and get ready to immerse yourself in a captivating feature film.
This year’s Outdoor Movie will take place at Heritage Park on Thursday, August 17. Family-friendly activities will kick off the event at 7:30 PM, including facepainting and fantasy photos, with the movie screening at sundown, which is expected between 9:00 and 9:30 PM. A concession will be on-site, offering movie snacks along with everyone’s favourite indulgence – mini donuts! Attendees are also welcome to pack along their own food and beverages (no alcohol permitted). This year’s feature film is none other than the thrilling Warner Bros. DC League of Superpets.
Mayor William Choy highlighted the community-building impact of free events, stating, “The Outdoor Movie brings our community together, allowing residents to reconnect with neighbours and forge new connections. It’s become a summer staple in Stony Plain that strengthens our spirit and fosters a sense of togetherness. I encourage all movie lovers to come out and join the fun!”
“The Outdoor Movie has earned its place as a beloved summer tradition in Stony Plain. It’s an incredible free event that caters to families, friends, and anyone seeking a delightful summer night out,” says Event Coordinator Tevra Graham. “Once again, this year’s event coincides with the exhilarating Midsummer Thursdays celebration and Cultural Campfires, promising an abundance of excitement for our guests. It is going to be a great night of local fun!”
Admission to the event is absolutely FREE for all moviegoers. Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating and come dressed for the weather. To ensure everyone has a seamless experience, a complimentary Park N’ Ride service will be hosted at Heritage Park on the day of the event. This service will enable guests to conveniently travel downtown and partake in the Midsummer Thursdays and Cultural Campfires celebrations. Following the festivities, the shuttle will promptly return guests to Heritage Park to catch the Outdoor Movie.
