Resident Appointed to Planning Advisory Committee

Stony Plain resident Doug Anderson has been appointed to the Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) effective January 1, 2023. The PAC is a Citizen at Large board that provides community-based input, feedback, and perspectives on planning-related projects and applications requiring Council approval. Anderson will serve a two-year term on the committee.

Public Participation Policy Receives an Update

Updates to the Public Participation Policy have been approved by Council. The policy is reviewed every four years to better reflect the roles and responsibilities of both Council and Administration. Changes to the policy include clarification of the categories of public participation undertaken by the Town and the public participation process, as well as Council’s role in supporting Administration.

The updated policy will be posted to the Stony Plain website.

Stony Plain Receives Canada Community Revitalization Grant

The Town of Stony Plain has received a $500,000 grant under the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) on behalf of Prairies Canada for the Downtown Revitalization Project.

Downtown Redevelopment has been supported by a combination of grants and reserves. The scope of work made possible through CCRF funding has included underground infrastructure replacements and upgrades, re-paving of roadways and sidewalks, pedestrian safety upgrades, and landscaping.
