RCMP Provides Crime Update

At last night’s Council meeting, Inspector Kevin McGillivary presented crime statistics for the Town of Stony Plain for the months of January through March 2023. The RCMP present crime statistics to Council at least three times annually. Inspector McGillivary last presented to Council in December 2022.

St. Michael’s Health Group Provides Update on the New Fenwyck Heights Facility

Christine Teterenko, Director, Supportive Living and Development at St. Michael’s Health Group offered a brief presentation to update Council on their new development, Fenwyck Heights.

Located in Spruce Grove, AB, Fenwyck Heights is a seniors’ independent supported living facility. This 170-suite residence will offer seniors a choice of 10 different suite types, several dining options, and plenty of amenities.

Presentation Given by the WestView Health Centre Foundation

Susan Ritter, Chair of the WestView Health Centre Foundation, and Tammy Brent, Executive Director, gave a presentation on the Foundation’s purpose and role at the WestView Health Centre and in the community.

Since 1983, the WestView Health Centre Foundation has been in the community enhancing the services at our local hospital and health centre. They are a registered charity that helps bridge the gap in much-needed hospital equipment and programming between Alberta Health Services, and the demands experienced at the Westview Health Centre.

The presentation also touched on goals of the Foundation including fundraising, hosting a meaningful First Responder event for frontline workers, and expanding the Wishing You Well program.

First Quarter Report of 2023 Presented to Council

The first Quarterly Report of 2023 has been presented to Council. The quarterly report is a comprehensive reporting tool that serves as a benchmark for the ongoing operation of the Town of Stony Plain. Throughout the year, reports are compiled to track progress toward strategic goals and highlight achievements across the organization.

The Q1 Report will be made available on the Stony Plain website.

New Greenspace Analysis & Inventory, and Park Space Guidelines Documents Developed

Administration is developing a process for park planning, starting with two new planning and development documents: the Greenspace Analysis & Inventory and the Park Space Guidelines.

The Greenspace Analysis & Inventory provides the necessary background information to understand and define the current composition of greenspace in Stony Plain and how it is being used today. In contrast, the Park Space Guidelines provide a framework to inform the development and acquisition of new recreational greenspaces to ensure they meet the needs of the community now and into the future.

Regional Agricultural Master Plan (RAMP) Regional Context Statement Presented to Council

At last night’s meeting, Administration presented the Regional Agricultural Master Plan (RAMP) Regional Context Statement prior to submitting it to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB).

The Regional Context Statement is a roadmap which outlines how the Town will update the Municipal Development Plan to align with, support, and implement the RAMP in 2024. On August 12, 2021, the EMRB approved the RAMP to create a harmonized policy framework to identify and conserve prime agricultural lands in the region, minimize fragmentation and conversion of prime agricultural lands to non-agricultural uses, and promote diversification and value-added agricultural production.
