Assessment Review Board Bylaw Receives First, Second, and Third Readings
Administration updated the Assessment Review Board Bylaw 2727/AS/25, a bylaw to establish the Assessment Review Boards, to align with current sections of the Municipal Government Act (MGA). Council gave first, second, and third readings to unanimously pass Bylaw 2727/AS/25.

Engaging Youth Strategy Accepted for Information
Since the early 1990s, the Town of Stony Plain has had a focus on supporting youth and helping them to be active, engaged community members through programs and initiatives. The Stony Plain Youth Centre was established in 2004 and continues to serve as a space for youth to engage, participate, and lead.
The Engaging Youth Strategy outlines how Stony Plain will foster an environment where youth feel valued, empowered to lead, and supported in belonging. It was developed through youth development research, youth engagement and stakeholder collaboration. Council accepted the Strategy for information.

Snow Removal and Ice Control Policy Update Approved
The Town manages snow removal and ice control efforts to provide safe travel within town limits with a focus on accident and loss prevention. Administration completed a review of the Snow Removal and Ice Control policy as part of an ongoing process of updating policies to ensure they reflect the current situation. Part of the review was an analysis of service levels to maximize efficiencies and determine operational priorities. The revised policy presents what the current equipment, staff, and resources can achieve in snow and ice control within the approved budget.
At last night’s meeting, Council approved the revised Snow Removal and Ice Control policy (CP-W-068) and repealed policy C-PW-042.

Board and Committee Member Appointment Policy Approved
At the November 25, 2024 Regular Council meeting, Administration committed to conducting a review of the process for appointing Council members to boards and committees. After conducting a thorough scan of ten comparable municipalities, a policy was drafted and presented to Council for consideration. The proposed Board and Committee Member Appointment policy (C-CO-069) was approved with an amendment to expand the policy to include Council-appointed Committees.

Policy Repeal
Annually, Administration reviews the Town’s register of Council adopted policies to ensure they remain relevant and aligned with current practices. Through this year’s review, two policies were identified as obsolete or redundant because they contain provisions which are either outdated or inconsistent with current Town practices.
At last night’s meeting, Council repealed the Refund on Golf Course Seasonal Memberships policy (302/04/92/SP) and the Program Refunds policy (053/01/00/SP).
