Residents Invited to Share Experiences to Support a New Inclusion Strategy
Share your experiences and ideas to inform Stony Plain’s new inclusion strategy! The Town of Stony Plain is looking to residents to provide insight on current issues within the community and explore potential solutions for a more inclusive future. A survey is now available for residents to share their lived experiences and identify barriers to inclusion.
The creation of an inclusion strategy is a key action item from the Town’s Together We Shine initiative, an ongoing project identifying opportunities and taking measurable steps toward creating a more inclusive community. This work is rooted in a priority to create a more connected community where all residents feel safe, welcome, and supported. The inclusion strategy will provide a municipal focus on diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion activities and principles.
“A connected community is a thriving community. Stony Plain has experienced significant population growth over the years, and ensuring we are supporting our growing community is critical to the health and well-being of residents. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for the Town and the community to work side by side for the betterment of Stony Plain,” says Mayor William Choy.
“Stony Plain is growing and evolving. Now is the time for us to look forward and envision a future where Stony Plain is a more welcoming and safe community,” says Community Development Officer Deanna Butz. “The survey provides residents with an opportunity to share what they have and what they continue to experience living in Stony Plain, whether those experiences are positive or negative. Feedback from our residents is central to creating a roadmap for a more inclusive community for all.”
The survey is anonymous and can be taken on the Stony Plain website until December 2, 2022. Respondents interested in further engagement will have the opportunity to participate in focus groups in the months ahead.
