Stony Plain's Outdoor Movie Returns for a Smurftastic Adventure!

STONY PLAIN, AB: The Outdoor Movie is back for its 20th anniversary on Thursday, August 13 at Heritage Park. This year, enjoy a screening of ‘Smurfs,’ the 2025 film starring Rihanna, following Smurfette’s wild adventure into the real world to save Papa Smurf. 

With entertainment beginning at 6:30 PM including backyard games, crafts, and a special visit from Smurfette, prepare for a full night of family fun. Dress as your favourite Smurf to get your picture taken with Smurfette, and grab snacks and drinks from The Refreshing Potions concession, provided by the Stony Plain Youth Events Team. The concession accepts cash and tap-to-pay, and food and beverage purchases support local youth programs. 

“The Outdoor Movie is sure to be a fun-filled evening with a Smurfy twist,” says Lori Van Dommelen, Events Coordinator. “Bring your friends and family, a cozy blanket, and a lawn chair and enjoy the show!”

Admission to the Outdoor Movie is FREE, and residents and visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating. 

“The Outdoor Movie has been a staple in Stony Plain for the past 20 years,” says Mayor William Choy. “This is a wonderful event that brings families and friends together for a fun night under the stars.”
