Council Considers South Business Park Area Structure Plan Update at Public Hearing
The public hearings for the South Business Park Area Structure Plan update and Land Use Bylaw District Map amendment were held during last night's meeting.
The update aimed to facilitate the future development of a site within the South Business Park ASP, Lot 8PUL. The update was part of a larger, multifaceted development project which included (but was not limited to) completing South Park Drive, constructing a second access into Silverstone, preparing the northern portion of Lot 8PUL for development, and exploring options for new recreational amenities in the area. The project included various stages of public participation including an open house and survey.
Following lengthy discussion at the public hearing, Council amended the ASP and Land Use Bylaw to keep Lot 8PUL as park space instead of the development proposed for the site.
An updated Land Use Bylaw will be available on the Stony Plain website.

Brickyard Drive Road Closure
First reading was given to close a portion of Brickyard Drive to accommodate a new subdivision design for the area. Amendments to The Brickyard at Old Town Area Structure Plan and Land Use Bylaw were approved at the June 13 meeting to facilitate the extension of Brickyard Drive. The developer’s plans for the subdivision require a portion of Brickyard Drive be closed and the local flare road removed to orientate residential development onto Brickyard Drive with rear lane access.
A public hearing for the bylaw proposal will be held on August 22, 2022 in Council Chambers at 5PM.
