STONY PLAIN, AB: Mayor, Council, and Administration gathered today for a ribbon-cutting photo opportunity to celebrate the completion of the new Public Works Administration Building.

While the milestone marks the end of construction, the facility is still being furnished and prepared for staff to move in. The building is not yet open to the public, with access expected in mid-to-late September once the final preparations are complete.

“This facility represents an important investment in the future of our community,” says Mayor William Choy. “By strengthening our municipal operations, we are making sure Stony Plain has the infrastructure it needs to support growth and deliver essential services for years to come.”

The project began in 2024 and was completed in just over a year. The new facility is a key capital project identified in the 2025-2027 Corporate Plan, strengthening operational capacity and ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with the growing community.

“The completion of the Public Works Administration Building is a significant milestone for our organization,” says Brett Newstead, General Manager of Planning and Infrastructure. “This facility will improve how we serve residents and provide our staff with the tools and space they need to continue supporting a growing Stony Plain.”

A public opening will be announced this fall once furnishing and move-in are complete.
