Truth and Reconciliation

The Town of Stony Plain is committed to reconciliation and ensuring that the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools is never forgotten.

September 30 has been declared the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day provides an opportunity for each citizen in Canada to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools. This may present itself as a day of quiet reflection or participation in a community event.

September 30, 2025

Join community members to commemorate Truth and Reconciliation.

Wear your orange shirt.

All are welcome to join the day's event at no cost.

Join us for a meaningful day of reflection, learning, and connection as we honour Indigenous voices and experiences. The event will feature a territorial welcome, stories shared by Elders and members of the Friends of Michel, the Reconciliation Begins With You video series by the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, and live music by the Stirling John Band. Enjoy tea and bannock as we gather in the spirit of reconciliation and community.
