Basic Needs

In partnership with the Town of Stony Plain, City of Spruce Grove and Parkland County, there are three transit options provided in the region; On-Demand, Commuter and an Accessible Transportation Service. Service is available in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Parkland Village and Acheson.

Looking for mental health support, counselling, or training in the Tri-Municipal Region? Below is a categorized list of local and provincial services available to residents of Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Parkland County.

If you or someone you know needs immediate access to mental health or addiction services, contact one of the following:

  • 211 Information and referral service for social, health, and government resources

  • 988 Suicide Crisis Helpline: Call or text 988 for free, 24/7, and confidential support if you’re thinking about suicide or are worried about someone else

  • CMHA Distress Line: Call 780-482-HELP (4357) for a 24/7 crisis line offering immediate, non-judgmental support. Online chat available at edmonton.cmha.ca

  • Children’s Mental Health Crisis Line: Call 780-427-4491 for crisis support for children and families

  • National Farmer Crisis Line: 1-866-327-6701 offers immediate, agriculture informed crisis support for farmers, farm families and agricultural workers.

 Affordable, virtual, and community-based counselling support for all ages.

Services available to Indigenous individuals and families, including culturally appropriate counselling and support.

Programs and organizations focused on supporting men’s mental health and well-being.

Support Groups

Caring Friends 

Caring Friends is an informal bereavement support group led by trained volunteers and provided by the Town of Stony Plain. The group offers a confidential, caring, and supportive environment for those experiencing grief and loss.

Date: Second Thursday of every month 

Time: 7-8:30PM

Location: Stony Plain Community and Social Development #107 4613 52 Avenue.

Cost: Free, drop in.

Empowered Within

Is a six-week program for women-identifying individuals to explore self-esteem, self-image, communication, compassion, and healthy relationships in a supportive, peer-connected environment.

Peer Support for Caregivers

Caregiving can feel isolating, but support is available. Join our new Peer Support
for Caregivers Group, facilitated by trained volunteers from Caregivers Alberta.
This welcoming group offers caregivers an opportunity to connect with others
who understand the caregiving journey through lived experience.
The goals of peer support include creating a sense of community, reducing
isolation, increasing resiliency, and promoting the health and well-being of
family caregivers. Discussions may include the continuum of care, shared
experiences, challenges, and practical supports. Together, we are building a
community that supports caregivers and empowers Albertans who provide care
to family and friends.

Dementia Care Partner Support Group

A supportive group for care partners, facilitated by the Alzheimer Society of Northern Alberta & Northwest Territories.

Westview Primary Care Network Partners with the Stony Plain Youth Centre to provide support with a Community Connector that spends time in our space offering connections to resources including the Youth Mental Health Clinic and a variety of other Resources.
