Dementia Programs
Dementia Connections
The Dementia Connections Project provides support and community-based programming to people living with dementia and their care partners in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Parkland County. The Dementia Connections Project builds on Stony Plain’s Together We Shine Inclusion Strategy which focuses on making Stony Plain a more inclusive, caring, and responsive community. This program’s mission is to create supportive and accepting communities where people living with dementia feel safe and welcome.
The Dementia Connections Project aims to foster connections and build a safer, more dementia-friendly community for all residents in the Tri-Municipal Region. The project helps to address issues people living with dementia may face including ageism and isolation.
The Dementia Connections Project continues to connect, support, and share while creating and maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community. Creative learning and social opportunities available include Creating Connections Through Art, Living the Dementia Journey, Care Partner Support Group, Lets Talk Dementia, and access to the Community Connector. Residents are also encouraged to join the WestView Dementia Collaborative which is a community-based network of members who meets on a regular basis.
Areas of focus include:
- Offering individual support
- Building connections
- Shifting perspectives and increasing awareness
These areas of focus are guiding us as we work to build a resilient and safe community for all.
