With winter and icy sidewalks on the way, business owners are reminded to use the sand/gravel provided and avoid using salt on the new concrete.

Construction crews will be working along 49 Avenue tomorrow (November 3) patching all the gutters with asphalt.

With winter well on its way, Alberta Transportation is looking to finish up a few items on the Highway 779 project and prepare shut down for the season. The pedestrian crossing signals are being installed at Westerra Drive today and are expected to be operational by end of day.

Crews will be finishing up asphalt patching on 49 Avenue this afternoon.

Construction continues on the new Stony Plain Central School site with trail and sidewalk work this week. Work is expected to continue through to next week.

*UPDATE* OCTOBER 19, 9:35AM. - The Town has been informed paving has been postponed until tomorrow (October 20) due to cold temperatures.

Downtown redevelopment pushes forward with the completion of paving on Main Street. The crosswalk at 52 Avenue and 50 Street has been poured and line painting south of 51 Avenue is complete.

Alberta Transportation (AT) has informed the Town of recent construction updates for the Highway 779 construction project. The 51 Avenue intersection was reopened to traffic on Monday, October 5 and the 52 Avenue intersection was reopened Tuesday, October 6.

Crews will be working on finishing up concrete work on 49 Avenue between 48 Street and Golf Course Road beginning tomorrow.

Alberta Transportation has a busy weekend ahead with more work being completed on the Highway 779 construction project. Crews will be pouring the concrete sidewalk tie-ins at the 51 Avenue intersection, pouring the sidewalk extensions and para ramps at the Westerra Drive pedestrian crosswalk, and pouring the concrete bases for the pedestrian crosswalk flasher poles at 50 Avenue throughout the day today.
