Seasonal Front Curb Collection ends May 30. Back Lane Waste Collection resumes June 1.
During seasonal road bans, waste is transitioned to front curb collection in areas of town.

Back lane waste collection will move to front curb collection in these areas.
• The area west of Highway 779 (excluding Brickyard Drive and 48 Street)
• Meridian Heights Subdivision
• St. Andrews Subdivision
This change is in place during the seasonal road bans to protect the infrastructure from damage and reduce the need for repairs to the back lanes.
Back lane waste collection will resume after the spring thaw.
New Waste Cart Options
Starting September 2, residents can select a waste cart option that matches their household size, waste habits and convenience preferences. Find Your Fit!
Three options will be available for residential waste customers:
- Downsize to a 120L waste cart: smaller, lighter and easier to store.
- Keep the current 240L waste cart: no changes needed!
- Add a 120L waste cart for 360L combined capacity: a little extra space for larger households with more waste.
Waste collection schedules and frequency will remain unchanged.
The Town will begin accepting change requests by phone or with the online form starting September 2.

Any cart changes will be subject to one-time administrative and delivery fees, as well as potential changes to monthly utility bills, as follows:

Residents are encourage to document their bin numbers, or write their house number on their bins. Empty bins can be blown away during strong winds, ensure your bins are secured in a safe location. Replacement for a lost or stolen waste or organics cart is $105.

Will collection change to weekly waste collection?
No, the Town of Stony Plain is committed to environmental responsibility by protecting and managing our environmental impact to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. It has been proven that bi-weekly waste collection helps promote the use of organic waste services and recycling due to limited waste capacity.
Public Works staff can complete repairs to your bins, such as replace broken wheels and broken vents. When they come to do the repair, if it cannot be repaired, they will replace your bin. To request a new bin email publicworks@stonyplain.com with your name, address, phone number, the problem with your bin, and the number on the front of your bin. We will create a work order for the team to come repair or replace your organics bin.
