Are you passionate about Stony Plain and ready to make a lasting impact? Inspired to Lead Stony Plain is a dynamic, 3-month leadership experience designed to empower emerging local leaders, build meaningful community connections, and ignite grassroots change.

Led by Ally Stone, founder of The Inspired Leader, the program guides participants through three themes—Lead from Within, Lead with Others, and Lead for Impact—while helping you design your own community project and grow as a Neighbourhood Connector.

Learn, Connect, and Building Leaders Who Build Community

Participants will explore authentic leadership, strengthen their personal leadership identity, and gain tools to create positive change in their neighbourhoods and across the community.

Hands-On Learning & Connection

• Weekly virtual learning sessions (20–45 minutes). Access to computer is essential.
• Monthly in-person gatherings (one half day in person session a month)
• Opportunities to collaborate with local changemakers
• Support to design and launch your own community project
• Recognition as a Neighbourhood Connector

Participant Commitment

To ensure a meaningful and impactful experience, participants are asked to commit to:

• 3 months of learning and engagement
• Weekly virtual sessions (20–45 minutes). Access to computer is essential.
• Monthly in-person gatherings (one half day in person session a month)
• Active participation in the design and implementation of a community project

Selected participants will be chosen by a review committee to ensure a diverse group of emerging leaders who are dedicated to strengthening their understanding of the community and expanding their positive impact.

Volunteer Connections Mini Course: Learn how volunteering can help you connect with others and become happier and healthier by getting involved in your community.

Community Service Options: volunteers that have mandated community service hours to fulfil are encouraged to click on the volunteer opportunities and see what is of interest and connect directly with the organization. Alternative volunteer opportunities available with Just Serve and can include some virtual options (note of caution, for mandated hours, they must be served in Canada).

Each April, National Volunteer Week is celebrated across Canada—a time to recognize and thank the volunteers who give their time, energy, and passion to make our communities stronger, more connected, and more vibrant.

This year, the Town of Stony Plain invites you to take part in thanking our community’s volunteers for National Volunteer Week 2026, running April 19 – April 25, 2026. We’re encouraging businesses like yours to give back to these remarkable individuals by participating in this meaningful initiative.

Why participate?
Volunteers are the heartbeat of our community, supporting everything from food banks to youth programs and local events. By joining us, you can show your appreciation for their invaluable contributions while showcasing your business’s commitment to community well-being.

How you can get involved:
Whether it’s a free coffee, 10% off, or something more creative, every gesture counts. We’ll take care of promoting your involvement and sharing your appreciation with the community.

Participation is simple and flexible—choose what works best for your business! Here are a few ideas:

·         Offer a discount or freebie to volunteers who visit your business wearing their Volunteer Pin

·         Host a group experience for a non-profit’s appreciation activity

·         Provide event space for a non-profit’s appreciation activity

·         Donate a door prize for our Municipal Appreciation Event on April 22, 2026.

By taking part, your business will:

·         Increase its visibility throughout the community: Be featured on the Town’s website, printed materials, and in the “Volunteer Appreciation Guide” distributed to local non-profits in February 2026.

·         Community commitment: Show that your business supports community well-being, connection, and giving back.

·         New community connections: Build relationships with local non-profits and residents who support and shop local.

·         Hassle-free participation: We have made it simple to join in. Choose what works best for your business, whether you offer a discount, host a group activity, or partner on an event and fill out the form for quick participation.
