InstruMental Health — Stony Plain

Music. Mental Health. No Pressure.

If you like music, good vibes, beats, or just want to find a new way to express what’s going on in your head — InstruMental Health is for you.

No auditions. No judgment. Just music, creativity, and a space where we can let the best of ourselves out!

What Is It, Really?

It’s a space where music becomes a way to:

  • Express ourselves safely
  • Make sense of emotions
  • Connect with other people
  • Build confidence

We use rhythm, sound, lyrics, and collaboration to explore things like connection, emotions, communication, stress, identity, and mental health — in ways that feel natural and low-pressure.

Do I Have to Be “Musical”?

Nope. Like… absolutely not.

You don’t need experience, skill, or even rhythm. This isn’t about being good at an instrument — it’s about being YOU. Everyone participates at their own comfort level.

What You’ll Actually Do

Depending on the session, you might:

  • mess around with beats, sound, or instruments
  • share music and lyrics that are meaningful to you
  • write lyrics or create music as a group
  • use music to tell stories or express emotions
  • reflect, share (if you want), and build off each other’s ideas
  • record what you create!

Why Music?

Because everyone can connect with music - whether it’s listening, playing, or sharing.

Music just hits different.

It can say things words can’t.
It helps calm your nervous system.
It connects people without forcing conversation.

Music lets you explore hard stuff in a way that feels safer — and honestly, way less awkward.

What You Can Take Away

  • More confidence in your voice
  • Better ways to express emotions (without bottling them up)
  • Stronger connections with other people
  • Tools to manage stress, overwhelm, or big feelings
  • Knowing you’re not alone in what you’re feeling

Who’s Running It?

Sessions are led by trauma-informed mental health educators who are also professional musicians. They know music, they know mental health, and they know how to make spaces feel safe and chill.

InstruMental Health is about:

  • expression over perfection
  • connection over performance
  • showing up as you are

Come make noise.
Come be quiet.
Come Connect.
Come figure things out.
Just come as you are.

The Gear - Bike Shop is currently CLOSED! Check back for future updates.

The Gear – Bike Repair Program is a hands-on workshop where youth come together to build connections and learn the basics of bike maintenance. Participants can bring their own bikes for a tune-up and custom paint job, or, if they don’t have a bike, one will be provided for them to repair and keep. It’s a fun, supportive space to gain new skills, make friends, and ride away with confidence.

In every community, there are people who others naturally turn to for support—those who listen, care, and offer a helping hand. The Community Helpers Program recognizes these individuals and provides them with training to enhance their natural strengths. Through sessions on communication, self-care, stress management, crisis response, and suicide awareness, helpers gain valuable skills and knowledge. They’re also introduced to local services and professional resources, creating a vital bridge between informal support and formal care. This connection strengthens the community, ensuring more people get the help they need, when they need it.
