The Glenn Hall Centennial Arena is located at 5300-52 Street. Named for NHL Hockey Hall of Famer and hometown hero—Mr. Goalie—Glenn Hall Centennial Arena features an 80-foot mural celebrating his career and life in Stony Plain.

Rules and Regulations 

Glenn Hall Centennial Arena is available for group and private rentals. Arena Rental Rates are subject to annual increase.

Ice season runs late-August to late-March, with dry floor rental available mid-April to July. Regular season ice is primarily scheduled for local sport organizations (September to March on weeknights and weekends).

Public Skating is now CLOSED for the season however, it will re-open on Monday, August 31, 2026.  For the first week of opening, public skating times will be adjusted and regular hours will resume on
September 5.

August 31: 2:45 to 3:45 PM

September 1: 9:30 to 10:30 AM (Parent-Tot Skate)

September 1: 2:45 to 3:45 PM

September 2: 2:45 to 3:45 PM

Free sponsored Public Skating at Glenn Hall Centennial Arena runs seasonally from September to March. Doors open 15 minutes prior to start time.

For the safety of all skaters, hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted during public skating. Helmets are not mandatory but strongly encouraged for children's safety.

Public Skating times are as follows:

Mondays:  3:30 PM to 5:00 PM

Tuesdays: 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Parent-Tot Skate)

Wednesdays: 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM

Thursdays: 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Saturdays: 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Due to holidays and bookings, Public Skating will not be available on the following dates:

Sparky’s Shack is open inside the Glenn Hall Centennial Arena for skate sharpening with the following 2026/2027 season scheduled hours:

Pre-Season opening hours will be:

• August 22, 23, 29, 30 and September 5 and 6 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  
• August 26, 27 and September 2 and 3 from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM

Basketball courts are open seasonally for public use and are currently OPEN for the season.

The beach volleyball courts are open seasonally for clubs and public use. The three courts are OPEN for the season.

The courts are closed to public use during club practices and league play. 

In 2026, league play is still booked for the following dates:

• Between July 7 and August 25 (Tuesdays) from 6:00 to 9:00 PM on the following dates:
  July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4, 11, 18, 25

Courts will also be unavailable on the following days:

• August 22 and 23 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The outdoor pickleball courts are open seasonally for public use and are currently OPEN for the season.

The tennis court is open seasonally for school groups, physical education programming and public use and is currently OPEN for the season.

To ensure an enjoyable experience for all players, please observe the following guidelines:

• Please limit play to 30 minutes when courts are at full capacity, allowing everyone a fair chance to play.
• Courts are reserved exclusively for pickleball, tennis and basketball. Other activities are not permitted.
• No dogs or other animals allowed on the courts.
• Wear only non-marking athletic footwear to protect the playing surface.
• Avoid bringing food and/or drink onto the courts. Water is permitted in a container with a lid. Glass bottles and containers are not allowed.
• Please refrain from hanging equipment bags, sitting, swinging or leaning on net cables or fencing.
• Please apply sunscreen prior to entering the courts as it can damage the court surface.
• Smoking or any tobacco, cannabis or vapor products, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted.
• Take all of your garbage with you or dispose of in appropriate bins.
• All persons using the courts assume all risks.  The Town of Stony Plain shall not be held liable for any accidents or injuries.  Be cautious as the surface may become slippery when wet.
• The Town of Stony Plain reserves the right to close the courts at its discretion.

The Town of Stony Plain maintains five Class B Diamonds, four Class C Diamonds, and five Mini Diamonds (T-Ball/Rally Cap). 

Please use discretion to ensure the safety of all participants and to prevent turf damage.

The Town of Stony Plain features seventeen (17) sports fields including football, soccer and rugby (1 Premier field, 5 Regulation pitches and 11 Mini pitches), which are actively enjoyed by sports teams, schools, clubs and the general public.

Located at 5210-55 Avenue, the Stony Plain Outdoor Pool has been making a splash in the community for more than 50 years. The Town of Stony Plain works collaboratively with the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre to operate the six-lane outdoor pool from May long weekend until September long weekend.

Maintenance & Closure Guidelines

• Please stay off surfaces during morning maintenance from 6:00 AM to Noon daily
• Weather conditions (i.e. heavy snowfall) may delay daily rink maintenance
• Ice surfaces are closed and not maintained for use when the weather is below -20 degrees with windchill or during heavy snowfall
• Use ice surfaces at your own risk and observe rink signage and guidelines

The rental rate is $30.00/hr.
