Town Prepares for 2021 Municipal Election. With the municipal election coming up this fall, the Town is beginning preparations and updating the Election Bylaw to align with the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA).
Alberta’s government has approved the formation of a new regional services commission for the Edmonton Metropolitan Region with a mandate for improving regional transit and mobility. The legal formation comes after several years of hard work and due diligence by Councils and their administrations, which culminated in an application submitted by the eight participating municipalities in 2020.
The woodchipper is gassed up and ready to go – Christmas Tree Chipping is back! The annual event invites community members to dispose of their trees at the Rotary Recycling Centre to be chipped and made into mulch for use in community landscaping.
Tri-Region Moves Forward with Regional Plan. Together with regional partners, the Town is moving forward with the Tri-Municipal Regional Plan (TMRP).
This week, presentations were made to the Councils of Parkland County, the City of Spruce Grove and the Town of Stony Plain providing important updates on the progress of the work being done in support of the Tri-Municipal Regional Plan (TMRP). Work began on the TMRP following the municipalities signing a letter of intent and securing funding from Western Economic Diversification in January 2019.
Town Poet Laureate Joins Council for Project Update. Lisa Mulrooney, Town Poet Laureate, joined Council for a presentation on her creative endeavours in Stony Plain over the last year.

The Town of Stony Plain is celebrating its long serving staff members with the annual Long Service Awards. The awards recognize Town staff who have served the community for five, 10, 15, and 20 years.
