2025 Municipal Election Results

On June 11, nine municipalities in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region submitted a joint application to the Province of Alberta formally seeking the establishment of a Regional Transit Services Commission (RTSC): City of Beaumont, Town of Devon, City of Edmonton, City of Fort Saskatchewan, City of Leduc, Town of Morinville, City of Spruce Grove, City of St. Albert and Town of Stony Plain.
Alberta Transportation (AT) has informed the Town that concrete and granular base work for the Highway 779 Construction Project has been completed at 57 Avenue West. Paving of the intersection is scheduled for Friday, June 12 with a plan to reopen the intersection to traffic by the end of the day.
All sanitary and water services have been installed on 51 Avenue as part of Downtown Redevelopment.
Arts, Culture, and Heritage Action Plan Looks to Give Stony Plain a Cultural Boost. The Town of Stony Plain is laying the foundation for a creative path forward for the community.
The water main on 51 Avenue east and west were completed last week as part of the Downtown Redevelopment project. Crews are now working on installing water services and the water main on 50 Street.
Work continues this week on the west side of 48 Street (Hwy 779) with the widening of the roadway from the 57 Avenue intersection to 55 Avenue, the installation of two catch basins in the same area, and placement of topsoil and seeding in the completed areas between the 79 Avenue (Hwy 628) and 57 Avenue. While the work widening the roadway north of 57 Avenue will continue for a couple more weeks, the plan is to have the 57 Avenue intersection reopened to traffic by Friday, June 12.
The Capital Region is coming together to host a virtual Canada Day celebration this year. Multiple communities across the Edmonton Metropolitan Region will be hosting online activities for residents to participate in.
Fiscal Sustainability for the Future. Council was introduced to a new framework for financial sustainability during last night’s meeting.
As part of the Highway 779 (48 Street) construction project, back lanes on 48 Street between 53 Avenue and 55 Avenue West and those between 52 Avenue and 56 Avenue East will be closed starting Monday, June 1. Following the gas main work, the lanes will be paved.
Work on Alberta Transportation’s 48 Street (Hwy 779) Widening Project will resume on Monday, May 25th. Work will start on the west side of the roadway at 57 Avenue and proceed north to 55 Avenue.
