The Town of Stony Plain has officially named February 20 ‘Kin Canada Day’, celebrating Kinsmen Canada’s 100 years of service. Council members raised the Kinsmen flag at Town Office in honour of the continued commitment of Kinsmen across the country.
The Town of Stony Plain, in partnership with its sister town Shikaoi, is accepting applications for the Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) position. The successful applicant will have the chance to live and work in Japan for a year while helping teach English to Japanese children and adults.
Community members are invited to lend a hand and help clean up around their neighbourhoods for Pitch-In Week 2020, returning to town April 19 – 26. Residents can pitch-in to make the town more environmentally friendly by cleaning up, restoring, and preserving local greenspace.

Every four years, Administration recruits community members to get involved in local government by participating in the Council Remuneration Committee. The function of the committee is to present recommendations regarding the compensation amounts for Council members.
The Town of Stony Plain and Shikaoi are celebrating 35 years of friendship this year and once again, students are invited to apply for the delegation jetting off to Japan this summer. There are 8 spots open for students ages 14 to 18, grades 9 through 12, at the time of application.
The Public Hearing and associated bylaw (Item 5. 1 and 8. 1), regarding Genesis on the Lakes Stages 4B and 4C Municipal Reserve Land Swap of tonight’s Regular Council Meeting Agenda may be postponed. The applicant has requested the public hearing be postponed, and indicated they will not be in attendance tonight.
