  • Highway 779 July 29th Update

    Alberta Transportation has advised they will be paving portions of the intersection at Provincial Highway 779 (48 Street) and Highway 628 (79 Avenue) beginning today resulting in single lane, alternating traffic during the day. Temporary lane closures will take place along Highway 628 to accommodate construction of curb and gutter and the new channelized right turn lane.

  • Mural Unveiling – Good Samaritan Society

    Stony Plain, alongside The Good Samaritan Society and local artist James Mackay, will be unveiling a new mural on September 12. th.

  • New School Site Servicing Construction to Begin in August

    Construction is set to begin on the underground servicing for the new Stony Plain school site next week. Residents will notice an increase in traffic along 57.

  • Tonight's Summer Session Moved to Community Centre

    And just like that, our sunny days are gone and the rainy weather continues. We will be moving tonight's Summer Session indoors at a NEW venue: The Stony Plain Community Centre (5008 51 Ave).

  • Great-Granddaughter of Israel Umbach Tours Stony Plain

    The Town welcomed Barbara Shaffner, the great-granddaughter of Stony Plain’s iconic sherriff, Israel Umbach, on a tour of the Umbach family’s rich history and roots in the community on July 19. Barbara, a resident of Toledo, Ohio, made the 1,767 km trip to her great-grandfather’s hometown to experience the history, first-hand.

  • Residents Invited to Screening of Mary Poppins Returns at Outdoor Movie 2019

    The Town of Stony Plain will host its annual Outdoor Movie event in Heritage Park on Thursday, August 15. This year’s showing will be of the Disney fantasy movie.

  • July 2019 is on Track to be the Second Wettest in the Last 20 Years

    Two months in a row now, the Town of Stony Plain has seen an incredible amount of rain. According to Environment Canada, looking at the last 20 years, June 2019 saw 124. 9 mm, second only to 2011 when the Town saw 133. 1 mm.

  • Town of Stony Plain 2018 Annual Report

    The Town of Stony Plain’s 2018 Annual Report is now complete. Released annually, the report informs residents of major milestones, initiatives, and projects within Stony Plain, while providing clear and accurate financial reporting to the public.

  • Shikaoi Exchange Long Stay Volunteer Program Looking for Applicants

    The Town is looking for local individuals to participate in the Long Stay Volunteer Program in Shikaoi, Japan. For a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 80 days, the program is an excellent way to further deepen the sister town relationship and to experience an exciting culture first-hand.

  • Highway 779 July 12th Update

    Alberta Transportation (AT) has informed the Town, the intersection of Hwy 628 (79 Ave) and Hwy 779 (48 St) will be down to one lane of alternating traffic on Monday July 15th and Tuesday July 16. th.
